Muckalee Creek

Muckalee Creek Professional Review and Guide

"One of the few major tributaries of the lower Flint River, Muckalee Creek begins near Buena Vista, skirts downtown Americus, and continues south to join Kinchafoonee Creek just above its con?uence with the Flint in Lake Chehaw near Albany. The creek’s dense swampy upriver sections are uninviting to many locals. The consequence: Roads don’t get near the creek.

Houses don’t get near the creek. People tend not to get near the creek. What remains is a secluded refuge for wildlife, strikingly devoid of litter. Downstream, Muckalee’s channel asserts, and the creek becomes a conventional waterway, home to nighttime paddling forays, training runs, and inspiration for the song “Muckalee Creek Water.”"
