Ocmulgee River near Abbeville Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Quality landings at both ends of the trip enhance this Ocmulgee paddle. Sweeping bends, where sandbars form, alternate with straightaways. Heavy streamside vegetation obscures the civilized world, save for a few houses at the beginning and end of the paddle.
Old oxbows and sloughs give the river a swampy appearance in places, despite its mostly swift current. One oxbow shortcut, known as the New River, offers a rocky rapid that will surprise most paddlers. For those wanting a calmer paddle, the rapid can be avoided by keeping with the main river."
