Little Hole Trail Professional Reviews and Guides
"Extending along the banks of the Green River, from Flaming Gorge Dam to Little Hole, this well-worn trail is a good family hike—it’s easy to follow and restrooms are available. Fishermen have used Little Hole since the days of John Wesley Powell’s expedition in 1869 as a pullout and launching point for boats and rafts and as a trailhead. The entire length of the hike is blue ribbon trout fishing, but no bait is allowed."

"Right when you’re about to stow away the bike and wax the skis, head to Flaming Gorge to squeeze in one last alpine ride on the Little Hole National Recreation Trail along the Green River. “Why wait,” you say? Because the trail is closed to bicycles from April to September to allow uncontested river side access for the large numbers of anglers. Your patience will be duly rewarded when you ride this fun-loving trail along the banks of this blue-ribbon hatchery. Pack along a pole and hook your quota of trout, or try to snatch one bare-handed as schools team up in the calm, bank-side eddies just a few feet from the path. The route begins at the base of a colossal slab of concrete called Flaming Gorge Dam. As you sneak away from the monstrosity of water retention, it’s just you, the Green River, and 1,000-foot-deep Red Canyon. John Wesley Powell floated these gentle rapids in 1869 as he embarked on his legendary expedition to the Grand Canyon. You’ll shadow rafters who are content with replicating only a fraction of the journey. Tread: Dirt and rock singletrack."
--Gregg Bromka, Mountain Biking Utah (Falcon Guides).
"Skirting the north side of the Green River from Flaming Gorge Dam up to Little Hole, this incredibly scenic, mellow hike is an enjoyable ramble. Gently curving through Red Canyon, the river and trail genuinely deserve the National Recreation Trail label."
