Oscar Scherer State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Finding the campground: Take exit 200 off I-75 south of Sarasota and drive southwest on CR 681. After 3 miles, turn right (north) onto US 41/Tamiami Trail Scenic Highway. The park entrance is about 2 miles north on the right (west) side of the road.

About the campground: This park protects scrubby pine woodlands that are home to the threatened Florida scrub jay. Fifteen miles of trails provide hiking, bicycling, and wildlife viewing, while small craft can paddle along South Creek, a black-water stream that flows to the Gulf of Mexico (kayak rentals are available); motorized boats are not permitted."
