Myakka River State Park

Myakka River State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Florida’s Loxahatchee and Wekiva Rivers have national “Wild & Scenic” status, but the Myakka was so designated by the state legislature in 1985 (www .myakkariver .org). The river flows through a natural setting replete with Spanish moss and alligators.

Paddlers and anglers are welcome on the 14 miles of river that flow through the park; canoes, kayaks, and bicycles can be rented at the park concession, Myakka Outpost (which also sells a variety of camping and outdoor supplies); a boat ramp provides access to Upper Myakka Lake. Airboat tours are offered on the two lakes in the park."
