Frances S Taylor and Everglades Wildlife Management Areas

Frances S. Taylor and Everglades Wildlife Management Areas Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Trackless except by air, the Everglades and Francis S. Taylor WMA needs to be approached carefully by campers. Still, except during hunting seasons, this 671,831-acre area is a terribly interesting place because of its size and its very remoteness. What makes this freshwater marsh ecosystem interesting is the ability to camp in utter silence.

You may be annoyed, at first, to have the mosquitoes and frogs drown out the noise of your breathing, but soon the call of blackbirds and the sound of wind moving through the grass will be comforting. Airboats or tracked vehicles are necessary to reach the interior, but the network of levees and canals constructed for flood control and water supply give you quiet and affordable opportunities for fishing, frogging, hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing."
