Cady Way Trail

Cady Way Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This short but fun urban trail travels from a mall in Orlando north to a park in Winter Park. For much of its length, it passes an old naval training base that is now owned by the city of Orlando and scheduled for future development. Because the plans are not finalized, it’s difficult to predict what the trailside will look like in a few years.

For now, the old base is open and getting overgrown. The rest of the trail passes apartments and medium-priced homes along a partially tree-lined trail. There are more dog walkers on this trail per mile than any other in the state by personal observation. It’s very crowded on weekends, but all that activity can be exciting. Surface: Asphalt; 12 feet wide, with some separations exclusively for walkers. Location: Orange County."

The old Navy grounds has been replaced by a beautiful upscale "town-neighborhood", which itself has a natural lake trail with an extreme bounty of wild flowers for a visual feast and refreshments can be purchased in the ‘old-fashion’ town center. The Cady Way trail winds through other heavily treed neighborhoods, which offer natural Air Conditioning on a hot day. You can listen to the Winter Park High School festivities as you pass by Showalter field in Ward Park. Toward the north end the highlight is a metal bridge which transverses busy Semoran Blvd. You feel like you’re the king of civilization at the apex! Don’t forget to check out Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, a local favorite, located just one block north of the north end.

Good exercise trail at best. Not much to look at, but definately better than battleing traffic on the city streets in Orlando. I have biked it end to end many times as well, and you can maintain a good average speed for walking, roller bladding, or biking. If you are in Orlando and are looking for a place to get a workout it would be good.
