Alexander Springs and Alexander Springs Creek

Alexander Springs and Alexander Springs Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Alexander Springs runs through the heart of the Ocala National Forest and is the centerpiece of a popular recreation area. Alexander Springs Creek emerges from a ?rst-magnitude spring emitting 76 million gallons of water a day, creating a springhead pool spanning 200 feet across.

Swimmers, divers, and paddlers can be found enjoying the waters. Beyond the spring head, the creek runs down a wide channel bordered by palm, maple, pine, and live oak draped in Spanish moss. Water lilies, cattails, and other vegetation thrive atop the water, channeling the stream ?ow. There is an entrance fee at Alexander Springs. If you want to avoid the fee, you can start at County Road 445, but you will miss the uppermost part of the run."

The trail was great! But I wouldnt suggest going with the transport service back up to your car if you paddle down to Wekiwa marina. They take forever, its tedious and the $20 to do it is just a rip off. Just pay your $5 to put in and paddle down to the Wekiwa springs, don't keep going to down to the marina, there's nothing there. The springs are beautiful.
