This 1,838-acre park contains enough hiking—over 15 miles—on four different trails that it’s worth making an overnight trip here. The park protects the junction of the Withlacoochee and Suwannee Rivers, the site of several early settlements though little evidence of them remains. It’s hard to imagine the heyday of the 1800s when paddle wheelers steamed the Suwannee and elegant mansions were located on its banks.
