Upper St John’s River Marsh Wildlife Management Area

Upper St. John’s River Marsh Wildlife Management Area Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is a very expansive and disarticulated area, which is not altogether bad as the camping is dispersed, and you have to learn “the system” to be able to camp along here effectively. Once you learn the WMD’s way of conducting business, however, and if you stay informed and enjoy primitive riverine camping, an elegant world of opportunities awaits along the St. Johns River.

This WMA consists of 124,623 acres and another 150,000 acres of marshlands are being restored. According to the WMD, this should re-create fish and wildlife habitat, and improve water quality. The WMA’s 62 miles of levees offer a range of recreation: fishing, wildlife viewing, hiking, bicycling, hunting, and paddling."
