Withlacoochee State Forest: Citrus Perimeter Loop Professional Review and Guide
"This forest takes its name from the Withlacoochee River, which meanders for 13 miles through the area. As Florida’s third-largest state forest, it comprises 157,479 acres and spans four counties: Citrus, Pasco, Hernando, and Sumter.
It’s divided into eight tracts; this hike covers one of the most popular: the Citrus Tract, 42,531 acres. The World Wildlife Fund has called Withlacoochee “One of the 10 Coolest Places in North America You’ve Never Seen,” but about 300,000 people do visit annually."
