Quiet Lakes and Baseball Inverness

Quiet Lakes and Baseball: Inverness Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This area is bordered to the west by the Withlacoochee State Forest and to the east by sprawling Tsala Apopka Lake. Ten thousand years ago, Paleoindians thrived along the warm, life-giving waters of the Withlacoochee River. Later, Seminoles settled in, and by 1836 white settlers began eyeing these moist woodlands north of Tampa. After the Civil War, settlement began in earnest.

Today, historic sites and the outdoors are still drawing visitors to this quiet, less-discovered part of Florida. This eTrail from the DayTrips series describes many fascinating, exciting, (and many free of charge) things to do, most within a two-hour drive of Orlando. Each Day Trip includes destination highlights, places to visit along the way, choice restaurants and lodging, and shopping."
