Mutual Mine Recreation Area Campground

Mutual Mine Recreation Area Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This state-forest campground is underutilized. Some folks are put off because it’s located around an abandoned phosphate mine. Don’t worry—it’s safe around here. The lake filled in with rainwater after the hand-dug mine was abandoned in 1914.

Eventually time, nature, and the Florida Division of Forestry have teamed up to make this a picturesque little campground. The forestry people have also constructed many miles of hiking trails nearby, and Mutual Mine is now home to fish only. Florida’s most unusual state park, Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park, is just a short drive away."
