Hells Bay Canoe Trail

Hells Bay Canoe Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Enjoy a protected canoe or kayak excursion through a mangrove estuary. Opportunities for camping and fishing are available.

The trail meanders through red mangroves interspersed with saw grass and salt-marsh vegetation. The trailhead is located between Noble Hammock and West Lake on the north side of the main park road and is marked with signage. The trailhead has a small dock for loading and unloading and is located in a sheltered dome of mangroves. Besides mosquitoes, deerflies and horseflies can be particularly tormenting at the trailhead, especially in spring and early summer. Old-timers used to complain that Hells Bay was “hell to get into and hell to get out of,” but that’s not so true today with the marked trail and campsites now available to paddlers."
