Blackwater River State Park Campground

Blackwater River State Park Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Blackwater River enjoys a reputation as the cleanest river in the state of Florida. Most of its upper drainage flows through protected forest lands. The clear waters have a reddish tint from tree tannin. The river bottom is sugar-white sand. This sand builds to form sandbars on river bends. These sandbars make great swimming, picnicking, and overnight camping spots for river runners."

A great small campground with very well maintained facilities. The short trails at the campground are quite plesant and the river beach is excellent. A nearby access road to a boat ramp leads to a habitat recovery project area where foot traffic is welcome. The old loggong roads in this area provide many miles of hiking opportunities. If you plan to float or paddle the river from Bryant Bridge back to the campground, check with the campground host for shuttle information.
