    "This chapter on the birding areas around the Hobe Sound area includes descriptions of the bird-watching at these various destinations: Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, Peck Lake Park, DuPuis Management Area, J. W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area and Hungry land Boardwalk and Trail Grassy Waters Preserve.

    The specialty birds in this birding area include: Mottled Duck, Least Bittern, Wood Stork, Snail Kite, Bald Eagle, Purple Gallinule, Limpkin, Sandhill Crane, Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Florida Scrub-Jay, Bachman’s Sparrow, Roseate Spoonbill, Swallow-tailed Kite, Least Tern, Chuck-will’s-widow, Gray Kingbird, Short-tailed Hawk, Virginia Rail and Painted Bunting."
