Cape Romano from Goodland

Cape Romano from Goodland Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This Everglades trip explores the island group south of Marco Island. As the area is north of the national park boundary, camping permits are not required here. Starting in the sheltered northeast of the island group, the route meanders between mangrove islands to emerge through a pass onto the Gulf coast with its white sand beaches, with the option to round Cape Romano and even the remote sand key off its southern tip.

Cape Romano is a dynamically changing sandscape, enclosing a series of small islands, with mangroves and sheltered pools where white pelicans and wading birds can be seen. Walk the beaches and you can see the spaceship-like structures of some futuristic homes, at the time of writing, apparently striding off into the Gulf with the changing shoreline. This is a wonderful place to watch wildlife and to camp wild on the beach if you have the time."
