Gator Hook Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This is a relatively new trail that offers a very scenic hike through fresh-water wetland habitats with side trails that lead to nearby cypress domes. When exploring cypress domes, be especially aware of cottonmouth moccasins and large alligators, and keep track of where the main trail is located. The trail is marked with signage and there are two picnic shelters, an information kiosk, and restrooms available at the parking area.
The beginning of the trail is elevated, with numerous cypress knees and exposed roots, before becoming muddy and then flooded, so do not wear your best shoes. Water socks or sneakers are good, or even going barefoot is an option, although that creates an easier chance of being bitten by venomous snakes."
