Turner River Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park

Turner River (Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park) Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is another of my favorite paddles—a kaleidoscope of natural beauty in a serene, tranquil setting. Cypress, maple, and palm trees line this route in addition to flowering plants, river otters, egrets, ibis, and great and blue herons. I enjoyed riding along this route in a canoe with a group led by a park ranger. Guided tours are especially eye opening and appealing with a small group.

These routes are great for kayaks, as the mangrove tunnels can be tight, muddy, and layered with snags. Watch for turtles and other wildlife along the way. Take pleasure in the labyrinth of mangroves that are a thriving habitat for a variety of birds, fish, and other creatures that call the Everglades home. This route will take you out to Chokoloskee Island or to see Calusa shell mounds for an amazing day trip."
