Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"“The world as we know it is a crazy place, but relaxing beside the Gulf of Mexico it seems as though the world is a bowl with you at the center. Overhead, an arching sky and on either side the earth, spreading like the wings of a gull, rises gently up to meet the blue of day.” Cyrus Reed Teed handed his followers a new faith that he called Koreshan Unity.

He believed the above paragraph was literally true and he moved a colony of believers here in 1894 to build a “New Jerusalem.” The social movement eventually dissolved in the heat and the storms. Bordering the Estero River, this park offers many twenty-first-century recreational activities."
