Manatee County Parks Professional Review and Guide

"Finding the campground: From I-75 south of Tampa, take exit 229 and drive east on Moccasin Wallow Road. Turn right (south) at US 301, and within 0.5 mile, take a left (east) on SR 62. Rawls Road is about 22 miles on the right.

About the campground: A county-owned upland park, the 22,000-acre Duette Park has trails for horses, bicycles, and hiking. Hunting is popular here, in season, and there are picnic shelters and grills under the pines. If your family suffers from nature deficit disorder, Duette is the place to bring them for a touch of history—old homestead sites and “Indian mounds”—stretching back as far as the land’s first human inhabitants."
