Hontoon Island State Park

Hontoon Island State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The campground is in a hammock area so it is shaded (and buggy). This beautiful, shaded campground surrounded by oaks, tall pines, magnolias, and palm trees is on an island in the St. Johns River and only accessible by private boat or the park ferry, which operates from 8:00 a.m. to an hour before sunset.

On land, watch for deer, and in the water, look for manatees. Protective insect repellent will help you enjoy this beautiful site even more. Hontoon Island offers overnight boat slips (fee $$ includes 30-amp electrical service), firstcome, first-served."
