Cary Trailwalker Trail

Cary Trailwalker Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This loop takes you through pine forest into the middle of a wooded swamp on an elevated boardwalk with a top-down view of wetlands. The boardwalk offers a dry-footed examination of an otherwise inaccessible ecosystem. The trek, used by school groups on field trips, then travels a grassy road to span more wetlands before returning to pine flatwoods and looping back to the trailhead.

Bring a picnic with you and enjoy a meal at the trailhead. You
also have the option of camping here, as three campsites—
complete with warm showers and restrooms—are located near the trailhead. Cary State Forest is located west of downtown
Jacksonville near the town of Bryceville. The state forest straddles the Nassau/Duval county line. The original tract was one of the first state forests in Florida. It now has been expanded to 7,355 acres."
