Hog Island Recreation Area Campground

Hog Island Recreation Area Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Hog Island Campground sits along the dark and alluring Withlacoochee River. Within the confines of the Withlacoochee State Forest, Hog Island enjoys the beauty of the surrounding woodland in addition to the serpentine Withlacoochee River, a designated Florida State Canoe Trail. Though holidays and weekends bring their fair share of visitors, Hog Island retains a quiet and relaxed atmosphere that tent campers enjoy.

The scenic Hillsborough River state park here for your enjoyment. The campground is divided into two and historic Fort Foster are the loops, Hammock and River’s Edge. The
highlights of one of Florida’s oldest Hammock Loop has 32 electric sites. A forest of large live oak and mature pine make for a dense forest canopy. A thin understory of palmetto divides the mostly open sites that primarily attract RVs.
The Hammock Loop is attractive in its own right."
