Peace River Fossil Hunt

Peace River Fossil Hunt Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is a short fossil-hunting trip, exploring upstream from the Gardner boat ramp. You can choose to paddle just as far upstream as you wish. Your return journey will be downstream and, therefore, easier than your upward journey.

The confluence of Charlie Apopka Creek and the Peace River, about 0.25 mile upstream from the boat ramp, is considered a good place to find fossils, so there is no need to paddle far. Some people, however, consider the more inaccessible spots to be more promising."
