"Northern Rock Creek Park is a haven of wilderness inside the city boundaries. There are historic sites and multiple trails inside the park. The National Park Service manages Rock Creek Park; the hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails; and all the concessions. There are multiple places to picnic and enjoy nature along the trail.

To begin your hike on the Boulder Bridge Trail, park at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center and Planetarium. The facilities are accessed from Military Road, just north of the National Zoo. The nature center has restrooms and a small bookstore with merchandise pertaining to the region. The ranger can provide a trail map with descriptions of several hikes."
