Windsor Locks Canal State Park Trail

Windsor Locks Canal State Park Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This 4.5-mile-long linear park serves up an unparalleled acquaintance with the Connecticut River and its companion canal built to bypass the river’s Enfield Rapids.

Carrying freight from the 1830s to the 1840s, until railroading supplanted its usefulness, the canal helped grow the nineteenth-century industries that sprang up along the Connecticut River. Today the canal’s paved towpath serves hikers, cyclists, and bird watchers."
