Lions Head and Riga Shelter

Lions Head and Riga Shelter Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A former route of the A.T. delivers you to the present-day A.T. and the view from Lions Head in a shorter distance than the previous hike, giving you more time and energy to go beyond it, to Riga Shelter.

A shelter may seem an unusual destination for a day hike, but its grand view eastward has made it a popular attraction since being constructed by volunteers of the Appalachian Mountain Club in 1990. The hike begins with a short, stiff climb to Lions Head, but beyond that it rises at a gentle grade to the shelter."
