Hartman Recreational Park, Heritage Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"At this 302-acre open space find north–south trending ridges separated by attractive wooded valleys and wetlands. Across the property a dotting of stone ruins and miles of stone walls recall a thriving colonial settlement.

Remnant foot trails and cart roads from that early community contribute to the interlocking color-coded pathways of today. Other paths link to the trails of Nehantic State Forest. The park trails were laid out by Marianne Pfeiffer and Jeanne Thompson."
