Pomfret-Woodstock Loop Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A charming town in the northeast “Quiet Corner,” Pomfret is often described as “vintage” New England. This community of more than 4,000 is a popular destination for cyclists from across the state who come for the winding country roads and organized charity rides in the region.
North of Pomfret is Woodstock, an 8,000 person village and the second largest town in Connecticut, geographically. Woodstock is a lovely pastoral community with the largest concentration of dairy farms in the state and an economy shared between light manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism. Made up of six distinct villages, Woodstock has several charming commercial districts with boutiques and bed-and-breakfast style accommodations.
This route forms a rectangle, following Route 169 on either side, which can be a fast, sometimes narrow road. It is a popular cycling road, with few reported accidents, but use caution and pay attention to surroundings."
