Natchaug State Forest Loop Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Hampton is a small rural community near Pomfret, surrounded by beautiful country roads. Part of the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor, the area is characterized by rolling hills, farmland, and New England village charm. Hampton’s residential town center, full of historic homes on large setbacks and anchored by the Hampton General Store, is a perfect staging point for a ride through nearby Natchaug State Forest and neighboring villages.
This ride is somewhat hilly, with a total elevation gain of 1,843 feet over 23.9 miles of riding. The start point is at the Hampton General Store, which at the time of this writing opens seasonally. The historic building houses a grocery store and deli, serving a variety of sandwiches, pizza, and prepared foods and groceries, with picnic tables for outdoor seating."
