Pootatuck State Forest

Pootatuck State Forest Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Go down to a beautiful cascade, then up to spectacular views over Connecticut’s largest lake. Just north of Danbury is Candlewood Lake, Connecticut’s largest. Besides the usual attractions for boaters and anglers, there are some parks along its shores.

Most popular is Squantz Pond State Park. It’s next to Pootatuck State Forest, the best place for hiking in the Candlewood Lake area. The largest of three parcels of this 1,155-acre wooded tract has a nice trail system that makes for a pleasant loop."
