Mount Algo and Indian Rock Professional Review and Guide
"Enter the forest at the trailhead, veering left up the rocky slope under the dense shade of eastern hemlocks on the white-blazed Appalachian Trail (AT). Cross Old Barn Road after 100 yards. Follow a switchback, then climb stone steps for a moderately steep ascent. Large red oaks dot this slope, which is marked by car-sized boulders. Follow the slope’s contour and watch for a colony of delicate maidenhair fern right after you pass through the remnants of a rock wall. Indian cucumber-root produces greenish-yellow pendant flowers here in late spring."
