Macedonia Brook State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Deep in the forests of western Connecticut, Macedonia Brook State Park is grand in both size and character. Following the long access road leading into the campground—or more accurately, campgrounds, as there are several distinct areas within the park—you’ll pass some stellar picnic areas set beneath the towering forest and right beside the pristine waters of Macedonia Brook. You’ll also pass the sites of the Old Furnace, the Gorge, and the Lower Falls.
There are six separate camping areas within Macedonia Brook State Park: Birch, Hickory, Brookside, Red Pine, Overlook, and Maple. Some of these areas are further subdivided, and they’re spread out along the long and winding road leading through the campground. The remote wilderness character of the forest, combined with the widely dispersed camping areas, gives the entire campground a quiet, secluded feeling."
