Hartford–West Hartford Loop Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Hartford is full of historic buildings, iconic landmarks, and beautiful parks, but it’s also a car-centric urban environment that can be challenging to bike. This route was adapted from local cyclists’ training routes to provide a 15-mile loop on long stretches of calmer roads, past scenic parks, into neighboring West Hartford.
The state capital was once a wealthier, more prosperous, city, but it is still an important employer in the insurance industry. This ride begins behind the corporate headquarters of insurance giant The Hartford, by the Liam E. McGee Memorial Park. This ride starts on Garden Street, in front of a private park owned by The Hartford. Riding westward, turn left ahead onto Collins Street, a fairly low-volume urban street with shade trees, apartments, and small offices."
