Wolf Den Professional Review and Guide
"The famous—some may argue infamous— location where Connecticut’s gray wolf met its final demise, Mashamoquet Brook State Park is a tranquil 900-acre oasis in eastern Connecticut. Today’s park is an amalgam of three previous independent parks, including Wolf Den State Park, first protected by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1899. This 4.2-mile loop snakes around gnarled rock outcrops, gradually descends beneath tall forest stands, and hugs the upper slopes of a steep river valley. It is a moderate half-day journey and an ideal choice throughout the year for hikers of all ages."
