A frequent trip for me, I love the trail for bird watching. The trail which leads past the picnic area is very easy to walk, and is wheelchair accessible. Low tide is a great time to go because that is when the birds are most numerous. The rose hips are ripening now and add to the color and fall feel of the trail.
The marsh area to the right of the gravel road is well colored in September. Lots of reds and yellows are apparent in all the grasses.
Wear some heavier clothes in September because the wind can be very cold as it blows up from the ocean. September offers some nice weather as well with the additional perk that parking in the park is free after Labor Day.
