Favorite place to hike in the area, in order to get the peaceful hiking experience most people are looking for. The deep woods trail is my personal favorite. Take the boardwalk to the orange trail and follow it and possibly take the yellow trail to add a few extra feet to the trail. You will be able to hear road traffic most of the time. But eventually the trail steers clear of the road and is generally quiet. Make sure to grab a park map on the way in to refer to while on the trail, there are many trails that branch off from the main trails. Even if the park is crowded this trail is usually pretty quiet because it is more vigorous than the other trails. I have hiked all of the trails here and there is a trail for every hiking style and skill. Also a very nice beach is available to cool off at after or even before hiking. Definitely a great place to float around with a raft on a warm summer day. I believe you do have to pay during the busy season to drive your car through that park. But parking is free at the lots in the entrance, and along the road, and the walk is very short, so if you are looking to save money park in the lots around the entrance or on the road. Great place to take a quick pavement walk or long day hike into the woods.
