Wilton Hills and Reservoir

Wilton Hills and Reservoir Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Wilton is a rural town in Fairfield County with roots stretching back to the early European settlers, who built the first homes here in 1651. The town has lovely historical character and natural beauty. Much of Wilton is located along a ridge, just south of a fairly mountainous area. This route explores some of the climbs, including a particularly gnarly descent down a rural back road, on the way to Georgetown, a neighborhood that overlaps Wilton and nearby Redding.

Cyclists looking for extra mileage could link this ride with the New Canaan ride, adding in a hilly climb around the reservoir for a few extra miles. On the return leg, instead of turning onto Horseshoe Road, follow Route 106 (Wolfpit Road) to Old Boston Road, and turn right onto it, following the reservoir section of the New Canaan directions, and then turning left onto Wolfpit Road and finishing the original route. This would add about 6 miles and 700 feet of climbing."
