I wouldn't rate this trail as difficult. Moderate would be better. It's got some areas that might be a little rough and rocky and steep for an inexperienced hiker but for the most part it was fine for me.The view of the reservoir is nice and the best time to go is in the fall when the leaves change color. Makes a nice contrast with the water in the reservoir. My only complaint about this hike is there seems to be a lot of garbage and broken glass, at least the few times I went, so be careful where you walk, especially if you bring a dog or kids with you.

What a beautiful hiking area! Overall this is an easy hike, and footing can be rough in some spots. There were very few steep inclines. This is a pretty 5.5 mile loop with cool rocks, cliff faces and scenic views. There are many trail options if you decide to venture off.

Nice area, good views, excelent climbing. The trail system is well marked, and an easy hike, with some grade but nothing bad.

A secluded walk through the woods with very few other hikers. Nice views of the country side and the pond below the cliffs.

The trail offers some rugged terrain as well as easy walking. The distance of loop makes for an excellent three hour hike. The trail seems to be well marked. There are some very nice views.

Great trail I spent a lot of time checking out all the little off-shoot trails and found that you will never get bored. There is a great view overlooking Hart pond. All trails were pretty well marked but a times it gets confusing if your not paying attention. I plan on going back a couple of times in the next month or so

Grew up in Kensington, so I've been on Ragged plenty of times, usually parking on West lane and heading up that way. Lot of talus, so sturdy boots are in order. Try not to trip over the rock climbers' ropes on the summit either. Great views of the state from the top and a nice, enjoyable hike even if you've gone time and time again. On the cliff side, there are some small caves created by basalt slabs that have slipped along joints. Fun to poke around in.

One of the better hikes in the Hartford area. In addition to the loop described in this book there are numerous other blazed trails in the preserve the Berlin Land Trust has a good map with all the various trails at: http://www.berlinlandtrust.org/pages/611772/ We started on the Blue/red dot blaze in a clockwise direction, connected to the blue blaze along the ridge line and then rather than complete the loop as described in this guide took the blue/green dot blaze back to the start (around 5 miles). Around 2 hours total time for two fit hikers moving quickly due to impending darkness. Will head back to explore the other routes - beautiful area!
