"Although short, this drive takes you to a colorful, narrow canyon, and another opportunity to break up a freeway trek with a short and convenient side trip. You can explore (on foot) a fascinating canyon known for the abundant marine fossils in its walls and its 7-million- to 20-million-year-old geologic history. Once driveable, the canyon is now restricted to foot traffic, which for many visitors will make the experience even better."
