Rio Grande Trail

Rio Grande Trail is a hiking and biking trail in Pitkin County, Garfield County, and Eagle County, Colorado. It is within Newberry Park, Wilton Jaffee Sr. Park, Herron Park, Rio Grande Park, and White River National Forest. It is 42.3 miles long and begins at 7,896 feet altitude. Traveling the entire trail is 83.7 miles with a total elevation gain of 4,556 feet. The Henry Stein Trailhead parking and the Town of Carbondale Campground camp site are near the trailhead. Basalt High School Trail Head, Woody Creek, Hooks Lane Trailhead, Woody Creek, and other parkings, the Rail Cars viewpoint, and the Carbondale Park and Ride and CMC Park and RIde parkings can be seen along the trail. There are also a water and a shelter along the trail. This trail connects with the following: Crystal Valley Trail, Basalt Snowmass Trail, Jaffe Park Spur, Courthouse, John Denver Memorial, Sunnyside Trail, Stein, Cemetary Lane, Rio Grande Soft Trail, Grindlay Bridge and Glenwood Canyon Bike Path.
