"Expansive vistas of the high plains, including Denver’s high-rise skyline, are the frosting on this cupcake of a hike. Seclusion, an expansive mountain meadow, and views of the Ralston Buttes are the sprinkles on top. A bonanza of open space purchases have taken place between Clear Creek Canyon and Golden Gate Canyon since the start of the millennium. Hiking options, both high in the foothills and along the Front Range, have exploded, but the loop formed by the Longhorn, Maverick, and Sawmill Trails in White Ranch Park remains a standout."
