Soapstone Prairie Natural Area Towhee–Overlook Trail

Soapstone Prairie Natural Area: Towhee–Overlook Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Overlook features several exhibit plaques that give an overview of the Lindenmeier archaeological site, where artifacts of 12,000 years of human habitation were discovered. There are also good views for pictures to the northwest from the covered site. You can start the loop trail and enjoy even more expansive views of the foothills, plains, and Wyoming border as the trail climbs up to the top of the ridge.

The Towhee and Mahogany Trails are gateways to many other beautiful loop trails that will take you on great adventures in these foothills near the Wyoming border. You can easily extend your outing and add on 5–10 miles with the Canyon, Sand Wash, or Pronghorn Trails."
