Major Creek Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A good trail past huge aspens and beaver ponds up to a high valley with access to Lakes Peak, Electric Peak, and Mount Niedhardt. Treatable water is available up most of the valley but is limited in the upper basin. Hunters frequent the valley during the fall.
From the trailhead, turn right (south) and hike past juniper and cactus to the ridge overlooking the Major Creek valley. Switchback down to the creek, taking care to avoid private land on the right (west). At the bottom of the descent, turn left (east) and follow the trail as it skirts and crosses the creek several times before passing to the left (north) around marshes and beaver ponds. Pass the ponds and hike the moderately steep trail up the lower meadows, where you can see Lakes Peak above the upper valley."
