Mill Creek Road

Mill Creek Road Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The road climbs through the heart of Vail Ski Area then continues into White River National Forest to top of Red Peak. On the way up, a stunning overlook offers views to the north of Vail Valley, Interstate 70 and the Gore Range. From the summit of Red Peak, look down into Vail’s back bowls with distant views of Mount Holy Cross. In late July, I found incredible wildflowers all along the route at higher elevations. Marvelous fall color. Very popular hiking and mountain biking area. ATVs are allowed all along road, but roads above ski area are best. This rating applies to the last few miles where the road becomes narrow, rutted and, at times, muddy. Most of the trail is easy, especially the lower section that passes through the ski area. Suitable for most stock SUVs."
