San Joaquin Ridge

San Joaquin Ridge Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Much like Vail and Aspen, the ski culture is incredibly rich in the Telluride valley. Despite not receiving as much snow as other areas (including the Silverton region, just a stone’s throw over Imogene Pass), Telluride has all the qualities of a classic Rocky Mountain ski town and boasts a vast array of challenging terrain. In the winter Telluride can only be accessed via CO 145, and the towering canyon walls surrounding the town add to its remote character.

There are few towns in the Lower 48 where the trailhead for a 1,000-foot-long technical chute happens to be in your backyard. Telluride is a 6-hour drive from Denver in good weather; if you’re coming from the Front Range to ski in the area, make sure to check the weather and snow conditions. It’s a long drive to get aced by treacherous weather or lack of snow cover."
