Bullion King Lake Road

Bullion King Lake Road Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Most maps do not show this road, and those that do are not accurate. This road can be used as a side route of Black Bear Pass Trail or as an alternative for those not wishing to tangle with Black Bear—one of the most notorious 4WD roads in the San Juans. It provides some wonderfully panoramic scenery and an opportunity for a short hike to a few small, tranquil alpine lakes at the end of the trail.

Special Attractions: Attractive, panoramic scenery; Small alpine lakes. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."
