Prewitt Reservoir Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This 2,430-surface-acre eastern-plains impoundment lies between Interstate 76 and U.S. Highway 6, 18 miles northeast of Fort Morgan along the South Platte River.

Channel catfish are typically caught on nightcrawlers, shrimp or cut carp. Fishing from the dam or from a boat in the northeastern part of the reservoir produces the greatest number of fish. Wipers can be taken along the dam by trolling Rapala Shad Raps or casting large Kastmasters. For walleye and saugeye, the best action is in May and early June, along the dam or near any shoreline obstruction. Fish with minnows, Mister Twister grubs, or lead-head jigs tipped with a night crawler. Use a slow retrieve."
