Steamboat Lake Ski Resort Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Lester Mountain is home to some great tree skiing at a mellow angle. You can be sure you’ll be the only skier on the mountain, and you’re not far from the legendary “champagne powder” of Steamboat. The old Steamboat Lake ski area and the peak and town of Hahn’s Peak feel far removed from the relative hustle and bustle of Steamboat Springs just 20 miles to their south.

Skiing in the area dates to the 1900s, when miners would ski on Hahn’s Peak (the mountain), as well as on the tailings piles of mines around Hahn’s Peak (the town). The community hosted winter carnivals as early as 1912. Tales are told of a skier who “leapt clear over the courthouse.” It’s been assumed that the story is a tall tale, but a February 2, 1912, Routt County Sentinel article references the feat."
